I didn't choose wine — it chose me. I grew up travelling between vineyards with my father, Greg, who spent nearly thirty years building Inland Trading Company into one of Australia's most respected wine export businesses. He taught me that the most honest bottles are rarely found in the most obvious places. They're made by people who understand that the work begins long before harvest — in the soil, in the patience, in the decision to farm without compromise.
My own path took me into specialty coffee, eighteen years at ONA Coffee, building something from the ground up. But wine remained the constant thread. I kept collecting, kept travelling, kept seeking out the producers whose bottles made dinner tables quieter and conversations deeper.

A year that
changed everything.
In 2023, my wife and I moved to France. We wanted to be closer to the producers and vineyards we had spent years admiring from a distance. What followed was a year of extraordinary discovery : cellar visits, harvest meals, long conversations with growers who had spent entire lifetimes learning one small corner of land.
But it was also a year of growing frustration. Back in Australia, I was hearing the same thing from friends in hospitality: the wines they wanted to pour weren't available, or weren't affordable, or had disappeared behind exclusive arrangements that served no one except the middleman. Extraordinary European wines were being kept from Australian tables not by scarcity, but by margins and monopoly.

Oui Wine was born from that conviction. Built within Inland Trading : with thirty years of logistics trust and expertise behind every shipment, but focused entirely on bringing small European growers to Australia at prices that make them possible to pour, not just possible to admire.
Every producer in our portfolio farms organically or biodynamically. Every wine begins with hand-harvested fruit. Every bottle is chosen because it carries something real : an identity, a place, a point of view. And every one of them is priced so that the sommelier in Sydney and the wine bar in Melbourne can say yes without hesitation.
